The mobile landscape is changing shape and heading east. Everybody was waiting for the moment when China would take the lead of the mobile market – and now the long wait is over.

infographic chinaUntil 2012 feature phones dominated the market in China, but now the trend has changed: 73.2% of all mobile phone sold in China are smartphones.

From Q1 2012 to Q2 2013 the volume of smartphone sales has risen from 31.17 millions to 77.11 millions. One of the reason explaining this big growth is the low price of devices: smartphones under 2000 yuan (around 330 dollars) account for 75.9% of the sales market share.

Other good news coming from IAB is that China is emerging as ‘mobile only’ country in sharp contrast to the U.S. multiscreen market. Moreover, according to a new study by Renren Games, most mobile internet users in China have a positive attitude towards advertisements: 53 percent of users admit “their consuming behavior was influenced to some extent by mobile ads.”

With a stronger smartphone penetration, more time spent watching the mobile screen and a positive attitude towards mobile ads, a new range of possibilities are now open for mobile marketers in China.

eMarketer expects mobile ad investment  to grow sharply in 2013, from $288.9 million in 2012 to $722.3 million, with a stronger growth for years to come.

MobPartner is already taking advantage of all these factors and is effectively deliviring mobile advertisements to Chinese users. See below some of out top performing campaigns in China:
